The video, which had more than 2.3M views as of Tuesday, Sept. 5, shows the officer appearing to embrace and kiss a female before joining her in the back of his police vehicle.

Then, the feed cuts out.

The video was posted on Labor Day and had garnered thousands of comments that ranged from sharp-witted to scornful.

“Like literally seriously lost as to what I just watched . No way she’s of age but even if somehow she miraculously was dog what is he doin?!,” one user posted.

“You need to send this to the US Department of Justice and the (chief) of police,” another said. “Don't be afraid, you see something say something.”

In response, the department announced that it was made aware of the video and has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding it.

"PGPD Executive Command is aware of a video circulating on social media with one of our officers," they posted on Twitter. "As soon as we became aware earlier today, we opened an investigation to determine the circumstances."

The officer has not been identified. More information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
